Scaling & Oral Hygiene

Remove all the
plaque and tartar

Scaling and oral hygiene is a service where your dentist removes all the plaque and tartar. This makes sure your teeth and gums are  cleaned all the way down to the bottom of the pocket. Your dentist will then begin root planing, smoothing out your teeth roots. This helps your gums to be re-attached to your teeth.

Oral cavity is a mirror of the overall health

Modern science has proved that the oral cavity is a mirror of the overall health of an individual.  As you may know, meticulous oral hygiene is essential for keeping your teeth and gums healthy. But did you know that your oral hygiene habits can also affect your overall health? Studies have shown that poor oral hygiene can lead to various health problems, such as heart disease, stroke, and even premature birth.

Importance of scaling your teeth

Of course, scaling and oral hygiene go hand-in-hand. Scaling is the process of removing tartar and plaque from your teeth, and it’s an important part of keeping your mouth healthy. Unfortunately, tartar and plaque can build up quickly, so it’s important to scale your teeth professionally on a regular basis.

Schedule Dental Cleanings

So how often should you scale your teeth? It depends on a few factors, such as the severity of your tartar build-up, quality of saliva, food habits, smoking and your overall oral health. However, most experts recommend scaling every six months to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy.

We recommend that parents schedule dental cleanings and examinations for their children at least twice a year. Our goal is to prevent cavities by removing harmful plaque and bacteria. Adults should have their teeth cleaned at least twice a year. It is important to maintain good oral health regardless of your age. Remember, a person’s risk of developing an oral infection increases with age. Contact our surgery to schedule an appointment.
